Ingredients:
  • 1 Large can whole peeled tomatoes (best quality you can find for a better taste)
  • 1 medium onion peeled and halved
  • A few garlic cloves peeled (not minced)
  • 2 Tbsp Oil (olive or of your choice I use peanut)
  • 1 Tsp dried oregano
  • A pinch of dried chili flakes
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup parmesan
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Maple syrup

Steps:
  1. In a medium saucepan, add the oil, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, tomatoes (with the juice), and chili flakes.
  2. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat, then lower to maintain a slow simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove most of the onion, then using an immersion blender, blend the sauce to the desired texture.
  4. Add the parmesan, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  5. Serve with mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, arancini, or over pasta!
