Ingredients:
- 1 Large can whole peeled tomatoes (best quality you can find for a better taste)
- 1 medium onion peeled and halved
- A few garlic cloves peeled (not minced)
- 2 Tbsp Oil (olive or of your choice I use peanut)
- 1 Tsp dried oregano
- A pinch of dried chili flakes
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup parmesan
- 1/4 cup Fresh Basil chopped
- 1 Tbsp Maple syrup
Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, add the oil, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, tomatoes (with the juice), and chili flakes.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat, then lower to maintain a slow simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove most of the onion, then using an immersion blender, blend the sauce to the desired texture.
- Add the parmesan, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
- Serve with mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, arancini, or over pasta!
