Ingredients:
- 500G uncooked macaroni
- 1 lb. diced cooked bacon
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 3 Tbsp flour
- 3 cups milk (or substitute)
- 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese
- 3 tsp smoked paprika
- 4 cups diced peeled apples
- Chives (a lot) to taste
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup panko
- Salt, pepper to taste
- Onion and nutmeg (optional) to taste
Steps:
- Cook the pasta according to the instructions.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.
- Add the flour and whisk the flour and butter to make a roux.
- Once the butter and flour are slightly toasting, slowly add the milk and whisk until all the flour chunks are fully dissolved in the sauce.
- Over low heat, add the cheese and mix until fully melted.
- Add the bacon, apple, and seasoning, and transfer to an oven-safe container.
- Place in the oven to broil until golden, enjoy hot.
- Makes 6 to 8 portions. Can be kept in the fridge for a few days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
